Love, marriage and a horse and carriage – photography from a breath-taking country wedding outside of Newcastle
When the bride and her bridesmaids arrive in a traditional horse and carriage, you just know it’s going to be a pretty special wedding. And yet the word ‘special’ doesn’t even come close to describing Alex and Cameron’s beautiful big day.
Taking place on the 10th of February, the stunning country-themed wedding was held at Quartpot Creek Station, a private property located about 30km outside of Dungog, with some of the most spectacular rolling hills we have ever seen. Something else we have never seen is a groom and his groomsmen in Crocs, but as we’ve already mentioned, this was no ordinary wedding!
And whilst we were on hand to capture the couple’s very first moments as husband and wife, Alex and Cameron’s story actually began ten years earlier. Having met through mutual friends, they struck up a keen friendship and two years ago this developed into the relationship they have today.
On asking the couple what drew each of them to the other, Alex says it was Cameron’s blue eyes and cheeky grin, while Cameron puts it down to Alex’s smiling dimples and caring nature. When it came to their wedding photography, we got to experience Cameron’s cheeky grin and Alex’s smiling dimples first-hand, not to mention her amazing boots!
The ceremony took place under the branches of two enormous gum trees. It was intimate and heartfelt and filled with some very special moments including the groom’s vows:
"If I did anything right in my life it was when I gave my heart to you. I give you my hand, my heart and my love from this day forward."
And it didn’t stop there. As taken from Alex’s vows:
"I promise to be true to you and always encourage you to chase your dreams, even if that means letting you get on the back of a 500kg bucking horse."
For the wedding portrait photography, we ventured to the banks of the property’s creek and got some great candid, romantic shots of the couple.
The reception took place in a charming barn on the property that featured gorgeous wooden tables personally made by Cameron that Alex, along with all the attending guests, loved.
Never one to miss an opportunity for some magical sunset shots, we left the reception with Alex and Cameron and headed to the top of one of the many hills. The stunning views and obliging sun proved to be the perfect combination for some really magnificent wedding photos, even if we do say so ourselves! Following the shots, Alex and Cameron got a lift back down the hill in a Land Cruiser and had a lot of fun hanging out the top of the sunroof, which we also captured as part of the wedding photography.
Alex and Cameron’s country wedding was a unique celebration of love and we feel very fortunate to have been entrusted with the photography for such a momentous occasion.
