Rachelle + Chris

Newcastle wedding photography: Love, laughs and baby Lincoln at Raffertys Resort wedding

With a chance encounter on the way to a nightclub, the wheels of fate where officially set in motion for Rachelle and Chris. The after party was at Chris’ place where amongst a group of mutual friends, the two stayed up talking all night. They caught up again the next day, the day after that and the day after that. Two weeks later Rachelle introduced Chris to her family and the rest, is as they say, history.

That was nine years ago. A lot has happened for Rachelle and Chris during the time in between and Hello Charlie Photography has been lucky enough to capture some of the key milestones along the way, including the couple’s:

So, it felt as if we were catching up with old friends when we met again to take their wedding photography. Taking place at Raffertys Resort in Lake Macquarie on October 28, the ceremony, reception and pre-wedding/getting-ready shots were all taken on location. Rachelle and Chris chose Raffertys because they wanted the ceremony and reception all in one place and wanted to make a weekend out of it in a laid-back setting.

From our point of view, working at Raffertys Resort was ideal. With the beautiful beach-side backdrop, jetty, rainforest, bridge, hotel and function rooms, there was plenty of scope to create some really stunning shots. On sunset, we also got some great portraits by the water.

One particularly special moment from the day, was the father-daughter reveal. Capturing the emotional reaction of Rachelle’s parents was a real highlight. Other stand out moments were featuring baby Lincoln in the wedding photography with his proud parents.

"Marriage is about making a commitment to never give up on each other and to make a promise that you will fight for your love"

There was an amazing energy to Rachelle and Chris’ wedding day, which is reflective of the couple and visible in their photography. There were plenty of laughs, plenty of dancing and plenty of all round good vibes.

On asking the newlyweds what marriage means to them, it’s obvious that amongst all the celebrations, their wedding day and marriage run profoundly deeper:

“Marriage is about making a commitment to never give up on each other and to make a promise that you will fight for your love. Love doesn’t come easy, it’s give and take. It’s promising to be there for each other and a way of telling your partner that you don’t want to do life alone, and that life is better with them by your side. It’s knowing that through the hard, sad, bad, beautiful and happy times they will be there to share it all with you.”

And witnessing and capturing all that a wedding is – the excitement, the emotion, the public declaration of commitment – is what makes us love every part of being wedding photographers.

Another thing we love is happy customers, like Rachelle, who gave us this great feedback:

“It’s been a long journey with Loren and Ben as my photographers. It started with booking them for my wedding then we did the engagement shoot. Then I found out I was pregnant, so of course we had to do a maternity shoot. Then came baby Lincoln so we had to do a newborn shoot and finally we ended with the wedding!”

They are the most easy-going, loveable couple that always made us feel at ease. By the end of it all, they felt like old friends. I’m so happy I found them and can’t express how amazing they are and how beautiful the photos have all turned out…Thanks again guys it truly would not have been the same without you.”
